Marlins News: Carlos Guillen, Hanley, Troops, Ozzie Guillen

  • The Marlins have shown interest in free agent Carlos Guillen, according to Jon Paul Morosi of FOX Sports. The versatile Guillen could pinch hit and provide the Marlins with an extra option at first, second, third and left field if he has recovered from the assortment of injuries that sidelined him in 2011.The 36-year-old missed much of the 2011 season with knee, wrist and calf injuries. However, he hit a combined .257/.333/.419 with 17 homers in 597 plate appearances from 2009-10. As Morosi points out, Marlins manager Ozzie Guillen knows Guillen, a fellow Venezuelan, from their time in the AL Central.
  • Robert Ray signed a minor league deal with the Marlins, according to Crasnick.
  • According to Buster Olney (Senior baseball writer for ESPN The Magazine) says if he had to guess where CJ Wilson would sign it would be with the Marlins for 75-80 million
  • Marlins are visiting our troops abroad! , will be there.
  • Couple of Marlins photos out there thought you guys might like to see. Hanley Ramirez via Twitter revealed the New Balance cleats he’ll wear in 2012. A bit flashy, but no doubt Ramirez can pull them off…Deadspin is going to have a field day with this one. Manager Ozzie Guillen is on the cover of the next ESPN the Magazine showing exactly how much he loves his dog, which he named DH. My guess is Guillen swallowed a Milk Bone and DH was doing his best to dislodge it from the back of Guillen’s throat. Either that or DH was trying to get at some peanut butter on the roof of Guillen’s mouth
